Nashville K-9 Dog Training held a ribbon cutting at its Franklin location in the heart of the McKay’s Mill neighborhood Thursday in partnership with Williamson, Inc.

Local elected officials and local law enforcement officials were among those in attendance to tour the brand new training facility that will assist owners in helping their dogs become more compliant and fix behavior issues.

Franklin Alderman Bev Burger was supportive of Nashville K-9 from the beginning. She shared her enthusiasm for the business at the ceremony.

“I knew that this would not only be great for Franklin and Williamson County, but this is world class,” she said. “This is a national company. People from all over the U.S. and probably internationally will come here. We ought to be very proud of this.”

The facility, which has housed a Walgreens and most recently a Sears Hometown Store, is 15,000 square feet and has everything needed to train a dog, including a mock home setting to teach dogs in real-life scenarios.

“We wanted to put something on the map for the city of Franklin that was revolutionary,” Nashville K-9 Training Director Ali Hemyari said. “The dog training industry has been so stagnant and mediocre for so long that we wanted to come here and change it.”

Nashville K-9 offers two- and four-week classes. They also equip the owner with plenty of education and resources, too.

“We made it easy for people where they basically just bring their dog to us and we handle all the training and put them through our training course, and then we teach them everything we taught their dog,” Hemyari said.

Hemyari has always had a passion for dogs throughout his career with various law enforcement agencies. What started out as just a hobby led to him opening Nashville K-9 back in 2005.

Nashville K-9 also assists law enforcement agencies in training police dogs based on the department’s needs. Locally, Nashville K-9 trained and donated a police dog that is currently used by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office to detect electronic devices related to child exploitation investigations.

Nashville K-9 is located at 1415 Liberty Pike in Franklin.
